Welcome to License and Compliance Resource’s (LCR) Mortgage Licensing Division! LCR and in particular its mortgage division were founded in recognition and in response to the complex maze of non-uniform regulation that has been established to regulate the activities of mortgage lenders and brokers. As you probably already know, each state licenses and regulates mortgage lenders and brokers differently, therefore, making it difficult for lenders and brokers to expand into other states and diversify their risk.

Therefore, it is our mission to assist clients in quickly obtaining the proper license(s) necessary to do business in many states throughout the United States. Additionally, this division is dedicated to providing the client with state specific or federal compliance information specifically tailored to meet our client’s needs.

The Founder

LCR and its mortgage lending and brokering division were founded by Jennifer C. Lewis. Ms. Lewis worked for the Independent Bankers Association of America (IBAA) for four years as IBAA’s regulatory compliance liaison. In this capacity, Ms. Lewis was the editor of The Compliance Deskbook and worked with the FDIC, OCC, OTS, and Federal Reserve to develop common sense banking regulation. In response to Ms. Lewis’ request to the Federal Reserve to simplify the language in its Truth in Savings Act disclosures, the Federal Reserve appointed Ms. Lewis to redraft these disclosures.

While at IBAA, Ms. Lewis came to understand the tremendous need for compliance experts and left the IBAA to pursue a law degree, not to be a lawyer, but to more fully understand the regulatory process.

Upon completing her law degree, Ms. Lewis became the Compliance Officer for Approved Residential Mortgage, Inc. one of the nation’s top ten sub-prime mortgage companies. Ms. Lewis gained valuable experience working closely with all the processes of a large subprime lender, while taking the company into many new states and writing the company’s compliance manual. After obtaining this experience Ms. Lewis opened LCR on April 1, 1997.
